As we started our journey back to America from Canada, we decided to make a quick stop at a Tim Horton’s before we entered the states.
Shortly after leaving, everyone was full of bagels and coffee, slowly drifting off to sleep. All of a sudden, our rest was interrupted by the sound of 3 Canadian Police Cars. Sirens blasting, we pulled over completely baffled as to why we where being stopped as we had done nothing wrong.
So after pulling over, we waited in silence. You could have heard a pin drop in the van. The silence was broken when the officer shouted, ‘Driver, get out of the car now’. So danny got out and put his hands up, turned around, and began walking backwards towards the sound of the officer’s voice. We then witnessed the officer put a gun into Danny’s back and drag him towards the police cruiser. Before we knew it, Danny was handcuffed and in the back of the squad car. Needless to say, we now had some mental stuff going through our heads. Next, they shouted for the passenger (Pumpjack) to get out, Same thing, GUN, HANDCUFFS, CAR BONNET!.
We started to giggle nervously and heard, ‘All of you , Get out’, so we got out and we were told to put our hands in the air and get down on our knees (in the snow, mind you), all the while, we where held a gunpoint.
So we get out in the freezing snow, on the ground and the cop starts to search the van, i mean it was like 24 Jack Bauer shit.
It soon became clear, that they had the wrong people. So now it’s time for the resolution: The police were responding to a call in which a shooting had just occurred on the very road we were traveling on. We were the first car that the police saw after receiving the call, so naturally, they pulled us over. This was a classic case of, “Wrong place, at the wrong time.”
Nice one PLOD!!!!, lets just hope that the person got caught and the victim was in good health.
So an eventful last night in Canada, Tim Hortons Rules
